About Sue Friedel

Sue Friedel spent her youth in the country, being the daughter of a farmer from Mt Gambier. She forged a career in nursing working mainly at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. She has travelled extensively and is now developing a previously unknown talent as an artist. Having had no art classes previously Sue commenced art classes under the direction of Mary Milton at the Pepper Street gallery in 2007.

She is a realist. What you see is what you get. She paints from real life or from photos taken by her or her family.

Her paintings are diverse in their subjects and techniques. They range from traditional to modern, colourful to muted, and bright to soft. They have all been challenging in their own right as Sue is always extending herself to produce a painting that would give pleasure to the beholder.

Her first exhibition, Diversity, was in the Challinger Gallery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital through October and November 2009. This is a gallery which predominately shows the art of staff.

Sue's second exhibition, Diversity Too, was held in the Art Space at the Campbelltown Public Library from December 1st 2012 until January 31st 2013. It featured over 30 paintings all of which are on this web site.
